Lensworks latest project is finally here! Over 3 years in development our new Legacy 1.8X Full Frame Anamorphic lenses have arrived and are ready for your show!  These incredible lenses have been in development since 2021 and feature a fast T1.8 stop, high sharpness and resolution wide open, coupled with character and a robust housing ready for the most demanding shooting environments.   These lenses represent a first in the anamorphic cinematography world, a set with FF 2.40 coverage, medium squeeze, low distortion, smaller weights and sized coupled with uncompromising close focus and image quality!

The Optical scheme was custom designed by Lensworks founder Stephen Gelb right here in Los Angeles.  After testing scores of different optics we honed in on this special set of primes, giving many desirable characteristics such as excellent definition, medium falloff, smooth bokeh, extremely low chromatic abberation and signature LA Lakers colored flare, purple and gold with interesting spherical kicks. The Anamorphic optics in this lens series are revolutionary in that they hold sharpness across the frame even in full frame at an extremely wide T1.8 aperture putting them .5-1.5 stops faster than ANY comparable lens and also with a signficantly lighter and more robust housing. Quite simply, these anamorphic optics will allow you to bring significant value to any set they grace!

Lensworks put many years of design research and development into the mechanical design, distilling out the good and bad design choices of many manufacturing styles, landing on a bomber focusing mechanic ready for the most demanding production environments. The lenses feature shimmable PL mount, internal focus, common Focus/Iris gears and new anamorphic optics.

The 1.8x squeeze factor was chosen with flexibility and coverage in mind and accommodates todays increased resolution sensors seen in Full Frame and greater than S35 sensors like the Alexa 35. Currenly available focal lengths are: 35,40,50,60,75,85,100 with 28, 135 and a 50-135 front anamorphic zoom in development. We aim to also add a 180mm in the near future as well.
